nei pesci ci fidiamo: St. Catherine of Siena

The Friday Fish Fry roadshow headed south of the river this past Friday to St. Catherine of Siena in Ft Thomas. Once inside the space was bigger than it looked. And as this was the first church of the season so its always a little culture shock for me. Having a downtown address means an exposure to mostly three types of people. Downtown workers, empty nesters or child-free singles and couples. I walked into the church hall and BAMM! babies and small children everywhere. Oh yeah, this is a Catholic Church alright. Reminds me of my childhood.
Back to the fish fry, the line for payment and food was a little confusing but once we got that figured out it went smoothly.
The fish was flavorful and crunchy. Most importantly to me were the fries, they too were crunchy! The cole slaw was ok, not bad but nothing fantastic and the hushpuppies were nothing to instagram home about. BUT, the fish and fries were good enough to carry the whole show themselves and we got an unexpected chocolate chip cookie for dessert!
Boy Scout troop 706 from the Dan Beard Council were running around busing tables. A nice gesture, hope they got a merit badge out of it.
I gave St. Catherine's 3.5 fish out of 5. An above average score I must add. You could do way worse than going to St. Catherine's for your Friday Fish Fry.
